1954 BSA BB34A Alloy Competition
NO RESERVE: 1954 BSA Alloy Competition BB34A 500cc single cylinder with CB31 swingarm frame. Sometimes referred to as the “poor man’s Goldstar” and in 1957 marketed as the “Alloy Clipper”. I bought this bike literally out of a barn in northern Idaho. The previous owner bought it in 1989 and had planned to restore it, but never did. I started it today for what I believe is the first time since the late 1980s, so close to 30 years. I did some prep work over the last several weeks prior to starting it, such as flushing the transmission, oil tank, fuel tank, cleaning the carb, and changing the engine oil after draining the sump. I installed a new spark plug, new petcock, and after a few kicks, it fired right up. Oil return was very strong and healthy stream, not bad for a 63 year old. Starts, runs well, and rides, but will need work to be roadworthy. A great bike to use for AHRMA racing or for fun. This bike is for sale in “as is, where is, conditon”. I don’t really want to sell it, but I have multiple other projects so here it is. Missing the tool box, no headlight, no gages (did it even come with them?), missing side stand. I do have a Lucas generator to use in the magdyno, and a new kicker return spring still in the box. Engine has lots of compression, the shift plate has been reversed so the pattern is 1 up, 3 down. At some point, someone scabbed on a couple of weld blobs up on top of the neck / backbone, and on the left foot peg area, but it could all be carefully removed without much effort. Needs new tires etc. Buyer is responsible for all shipping expenses, but I will assist with loading onto buyer’s or shipper’s truck. No warranty, sold as is, where is. Please ask questions early, I have a very full schedule and sometimes only check messages once per day. $1000.00 Paypal DEPOSIT REQUIRED WITHIN 48 hours of end of auction. Balance of payment by cashier’s check, cash in person, or bank wire transfer. Buyer is responsible for any and all transaction fees, paypal fees, wire transfer fees, etc. Thanks for looking.
